In this next installment of the Justice League, the action takes place on the earth, under the sea, and deep space as the superheroes seek to unlock the mystery of the Totality. The multiverse is dying and what has crash landed in the Nevada desert holds the key to its fate. The Justice League led by Martian Manhunter and the Legion of Doom led by Lex Luthor are in a race against time and each other to unlock its power.
Now that the Justice League is aware of what’s at stake with the arrival of the Totality, the theme in this second installment revolves around understanding. Of primary concern to the band of superhero’s is learning what the Totality is all about. At one-point Batman is attempting to help the Green Lantern John Stewart fully understand his role in the Universe and with the Justice League. All the while the Legion of Doom is plotting to harness their own unstoppable power.
The first few pages serve to remind the readers of the depravity and the ruthlessness that drives Lex Luthor. The sharp looking cover art includes the Green Lantern and hints at the importance this character will play. The artwork throughout issue two continues to shine as Jorge Jimenez produces great scenes with detailed characters that are brought to life with vibrant colors.
Panels throughout the comic book are varied with a striking two-page spread at just the right moment. It captures Superman, Martian Manhunter, and a few others, as they begin to enter the totality in search of unlocking its secrets before the Legion of Doom can.
